Nepal Update 4 - The Hike

Hi Friends,

So yesterday we went hiking through the Himalayan mountains. Yep, that's right...it was a 4 hour hike up and down and around a few of the mountains (okay, so they weren't Everest, but still...). It was quite the adventure. I thought I was going to feel pretty old trying to keep up with these young kids, but I found that I actually kept up pretty well and was never last!!

How about a few "You know you're in Nepal when..."

...when you drive up a mountain and see a cow bathing in a pond and on the way back down you see little children swimming in the same pond.
...when seeing a cow sitting in the middle of the road is a normal occurrence.
...when you start talking to the goats in Nepalese to see if they will talk back (I think we were on hour 3 of the hike then).
...when getting stuck in traffic for 2 hours no longer surprises you.

Today we will be visiting a Leprosy colony. The team is pretty excited. Since the colony is usually so poor that they can't afford to buy gas to cook their rice, the team is going to be buying food and snacks to bring to them for a special treat. There is about a 45 minute hike into the colony and it has been raining all night...this should be an interesting day.

Love and Blessings!
Mags

I love reading about your adventures, Mags! I've been on quite a few of my own & I can relate very well. So tell us how the hike into the leper colony went. . . .
